2010 Easter Egg Hunts
Easter is Sunday, April 4 this year. We’ve collected all the details for local Easter Egg Hunts hosted by our towns’ park and recreation departments, as well as our local churches. All hunts are FREE – just bring your own basket and enjoy!
Saturday, March 27
Central Assembly of God hosts its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Grant Beach Park, located at N. Grant & Lynn St. in Springfield. Registration is from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for ages 1-12 years. Hunt for more than 20,000 eggs, enjoy prizes, face painting, balloon animals, inflatables and much more! Email info@centralassembly.org for more info or call 866-5013.
City of Republic Parks & Recreation at J.R. Martin Park (300 E. Hines) where parking is available at the former city pool and the former People Helping People building. This is a FREE event and no registration is necessary. Open to children ages 12 and under , the hunt will be divided into 6 age groups. The Easter Bunny will arrive at the park after the kids have gathered the eggs. Bring your own basket and arrive early. City of Willard Parks & Recreation – Citywide Annual Easter Egg Hunt at 9 a.m. at the Willard Recreation Center. The center is located at 133 N. Highway Z in Willard. Hunt is for children age 11 and younger. There will be photos with the Easter bunny, fun and games. Call Willard Parks & Rec at 417.742.2262 or see www.willardparks.com for more info.
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Southwest Missouri will host the 2nd Annual NAMI Easter Egg Hunt on the grounds of the Forest Institute, 2885 W. Battlefield Rd. in Springfield. Registration is 8 a.m. for children ages 2-12 years. 9 a.m. - ages 2-5 and 6-8 hunt. 9:30 a.m. - ages 9-12 hunt. The Easter Bunny will be there and sitting for photos with the children - for a $4 donation to NAMI you can take home a print. Springfield-Greene County Parks & Recreation – FREE family event at Doling Park, an all out doors event from Noon-2 pm. Includes games, inflatables, face painting and an Easter Egg Hunt. Bring your own basket – hunt will begun at 1 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, activities will be moved indoor to the Northview Center at Doling Park, 301 E. Talmage in Springfield. The Way Faith Community Church is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt with more than 10,000 eggs, games, crafts, inflatables and more at Jordan Valley Park. There will be a designated area for children ages 5 and under. Door prizes (including gift cards to Incredible Pizza Company) will be drawn throughout the morning with an EGGstravagant Family Pack grand prize. The Easter Bunny will make a special appearance. Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Nixa will host its annual Community Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. on the church grounds. Children 5th grade and under will hunt for eggs and will be divided by age groups. The church is located at 460 W. Aldersgate. For more info, call 725-4949.
City of Nixa Parks & Recreation Department will host its Community Easter Egg Hunt at The Center, located at 701 N. Taylor Way, for infants through age 12. Age groups will be split as follows: 6 mo.-2 years, 3-5 years, 6-8 years and 9-12 years. Hunt begins at 2 p.m.. For more info, call Nixa Parks & Rec at 417.725.5486.
Enrichment EGGstravaganza at Dickerson Park Zoo, 1401 W. Norton Rd., 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Watch the animals hunt for and play with papier-mâché eggs filled with special treats. Zoo admission is $8 for adults/teens, $5 for children ages 3-12. There will be a handout of scheduled events. Free for children age 2 and younger and FOZ members. Factory Merchants Branson will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt. Visit with the Easter Bunny beginning at 10:30 a.m. Hunt is for children ages 10 and under. It’s FREE and there will be a designated area for toddlers. “Best Decorated Basket or Bag Contest” with a prize for the winner. Eggs, candy and prizes. James River Assembly in Ozark hosts “Early Childhood Easter Express” from 9 a.m.to Noon on the church grounds at Highway 65 and CC. Ages infant through 1st grade will enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt, an Express Train Ride, baby chicks, a special playland, candy, doughnuts and juice. Everything is FREE. Rutledge Wilson Farm hosts "Easter at the Farm" Saturday, April 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Take a carriage ride with the Easter Bunny, get an Easter photo taken, hunt for eggs and participate in crafts. Springfield First Free Will Baptist Church will be hosting a Community Wide Easter Egg Hunt. Children will hunt for more than 1,700 eggs. All 1,700 eggs will be prize eggs. The Easter Egg Treasure Hunt will be at Nichols Park on west Nichols in Springfield. Festivities begin at 11 a.m. and the church will serving lunch to everyone present. East Sunshine Church in Springfield is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Easter morning, April 4th. Meet in the gym of the church promptly at 11:45 a.m and the hunt will follow shortly after.
