Looking for some family-friendly activities for your family this October? We’ve put together a list of local festivals for you and your family to enjoy. Have fun!

September 27-28 – Saturday & Sunday

Harvest Fest at Rutledge Wilson Farm runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Come and celebrate the harvest season! You’ll experience life on the farm through many favorite fall activities. Take a horse drawn wagon ride around the field, enjoy local bluegrass music by the campfire, and pick a pumpkin from the farm’s very own pumpkin patch.     Corn has never been so ear-resistible! Rutledge-Wilson Farm is proud to present a 10-acre corn maze that is fun for the whole family.     Hayrides

  • Offered every Friday, Saturday and Sunday during October. Only $3 per rider (5 yrs. and older) Ages 4 and younger free – Children must be accompanied by an adult.

    Corn Maze Pricing

  • Adult $5 (12 yrs. and older), Kids $3 (5-11 yrs.) Kids 4 and younger are FREE!
  • Group Rate – Adult $3 (12 yrs. and older), Kids $2 (5-11 yrs.)
  • Group Rate applies to accredited schools or non-profit groups with 10 or more participants.
  • Pumpkins only $4 each – pick your own from the pumpkin patch!

    October 1st - November 1st

    Campbell’s Maze Days and Pumpkin Patch at Campbell’s Farm in Clever. Fun for the entire family! Corn mazes, pumpkins, hayrides, clowns, face painting, bounce house, pumpkin painting and carving, pony rides, cookouts, outdoor family café and more. New this year will be Trash Can Choo Choo train rides for kids, Tipi Trading Post and Candy Store, Scarecrow building and fall décor for sale.     Weekends in October

    Gunter Farms Pumpkin Patch in Conway where every pumpkin season is just a little bit different when it comes to the varieties offered. There are also family games in the barn, mazes you're sure to get lost in and a wagon to take you to the patch. Hours are Sat. 10 a.m.-9 pm. and Sun. 1-9 p.m. Cost $5 for ages 2 and up.     October 4 – Saturday

    The Goddard School's Fall Festival, 5 to 8 p.m. Festivities include a chili cookoff, family photos, flashlight candy hunt and trunk-or-treat. Decorate your trunk and participate in trunk-or-treat. Prize will be awarded for best decorated trunk! Everyone's invited! Located at 2238 W. Kingsley in Springfield. For more info, call 886-6565.

    October 22-31 – Wednesday-Friday

    Bank of America presents the 25th Annual Halloween Spooktacular at the Dickerson Park Zoo, 3043 N. Fort, 6:30-9 p.m. nightly for all ages.. This event is geared to families with children. Hand-carved jack-o-lanterns, lit decorations and candy treats for children 12 and under. Cost is $4 at the gate or $3 advance tickets available at area McDonalds’s (beginning mid-October).     October 23 & 24 – Thursday & Friday

    Halloween Happening: Aliens Among Us at the Nature Center, 4600 S. Chrisman Ave., 6:30-9:30 p.m.Get ready for some nighttime fun and surprises during these annual guided Halloween hikes. Missouri is under attack from aliens and your help is needed to fight the war on these space invaders! Expect a few surprises, learn a conservation fact or two, and laugh out loud as you encounter these aliens face-to-face. Guided hikes will be led on a first-come, first-served basis with the last hike leaving at 9 p.m. Other activities will take place in the building while waiting for a hike. It’s sure to be insightful, not frightful. Fun for all ages. Call 888-4237 for more info.

    October 25 – Saturday

    Skeleton Scurry Costume Party and Outdoor Fun Run at The Meyer Center, 3545 S. National Ave., 10 a.m.-Noon for ages 2-11. Each child will receive a participation prize, goodie bag, lunch and play some fun games! Pre-register at any CoxHealth Fitness Center for $10; $12 day of event. For info, call 269-3282.

    October 25 – Saturday

    Red and yellow mums. Children singing. Music playing then stopping, followed by a squeal. These are just a few of the sights and sounds of Rountree Roundup, an annual event for the Rountree community sponsored by University Heights Baptist Church. This year's event and corresponding activities take place Saturday, October 25, and feature a carnival, rummage sale, raffle, talent show, bake sale, general store, dunking booth and chili and hot dog supper.

    The day begins with the rummage sale at University Heights Baptist Church for the benefit of Rountree P.T.A. from 8 a.m.–5:30 p.m. The general store — which includes child and adult crafts and goodie grab bags — the carnival and the bake sale will be held 3:30–5:30 p.m. The chili and hot dog supper is from 5–6:30 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $3/person or $10/family. The talent show — featuring students from the school as well as the church — begins at 5:30 p.m. The drawings for the raffle will take place about 6:15 p.m. Winners need not be present.

    Sunday school classes are sponsoring carnival booths. There will be face painting, a cookie and cupcake walk and other carnival activities.

    October 25 – Saturday

    23rd Annual Fall Fun Fest and Hayride at Doling Family Center, 301 E. Talmage, 5-7 p.m. Hayride through Doling Park, haunted house, pumpkin coloring and carnival games. Candy donations will be accepted to benefit the Park Board Accessible Program. In the event of rain, activities will take place as scheduled and the hayride will be cancelled.     October 26 – Sunday

    Trunk-or-Treat at Asbury United Methodist, 1500 S. Campbell. Games, activities and snacks begin at 4:30 p.m. Trunk -or-treating begins at 6:15 p.m. and lasts until the candy is gone! Children up to 4th grade are invited to come for a fun, safe alternative. Come in costume and bring $2 for pizza.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

    October 31 – Friday

    20th Annual Funny Face Festival! at First Baptist Church, 525 South Ave. in Springfield, 6-9 p.m. Bring your family to enjoy all the excitement of Halloween in a safe, friendly environment. Wear a costume and have a blast with food, fellowship, and fun. No scary costumes, please.     October 31 – Friday
