Kids Rock Summer Camps will be broken up into three sections: Introduction to Rock Climbing, Intermediate Rock Climbing and Experienced Rock Climbing. Your child's age and level of experience will determine which section they start in. Cost is $80 per child per session. Sessions are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for two weeks starting June 7.

ZEBRA programs (Zoo Education Broadens the Realization of Animals) include age-appropriate hands-on activities and up-close visits with animals for children age 2 through sixth grade. Programs are offered in June, July and August on weekdays and weekends. Fees vary based by age and session lengths. Visit the zoo's Web site for more details. Just because school is out doesn’t mean learning and fun have to end. Discovery Center of Springfield is offering 8 weeks of summer fun for children ages 4 through 8th grade. These unique, educational experiences will cover a wide variety of exciting science, health, environmental, and engineering topics. Beginning the week of June 7th, these workshops will be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. each week for ages 4 through 5th grade. In addition, two workshops will be available especially for students entering grades 6-8. Cost per week is $40 for members and $50 for non-members. Some workshops may have additional supply fees. Specific topics and workshop descriptions will be sent to members in the spring member newsletter. Member registration begins March 30-April 11th. Public registration begins April 12th. Workshop titles and descriptions will be posted on the website on April 12th at www.discoverycenter.org.

Summer Equestrian Day Camp – Educational fun for ages 6 and up. Equestrian Day Camp is supervised by a CHA Certified Instructor at a CHA Accredited indoor riding facility using well-trained horses. Campers will be instructed on topics including safety while working around and riding horses, horse care and management, veterinary procedures, feeds and feeding, tack and other equipment, grooming, saddling, bridling, horsemanship, equitation, etc. Lessons are taught in an indoor arena while mounted and dismounted and inside in an air-conditioned classroom. Horses, tack, helmets, and any equipment needed for riding will be provided by Sac River. Campers will receive a Sac River Stable T-shirt. Safe Kids Boot Camp is specifically designed for kids entering 2nd and 3rd grades. Adventure” VBS, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and “Dive Right In” Day Camp, 12:30-5 p.m. daily. “Dive Right In” is an afternoon day camp experience for children who have completed Kindergarten-5th Grade in the 2009-10 school year.
